I fell. Yup, that’s right. I fell. But I didn't just fall like a normal person ‘cause that's just not me. I'm definitely not normal. I fell down to Earth, the home of so many different things.
Let me clear up the air here. Hi, I’m Geraldine, and this…. this is my story.
Alright, let’s get into it. My name means “Mighty with the spear”. My birth mother is the one and only sun for Earth. Her name is Almaria, just in case you didn’t know. My birth father’s name is Malnaldro, also known as the moon. My hair is golden blonde and my skin is very tan, if I do say so myself. I’ve always loved going on trips in space with my parents. We would take trips to Mars and other places in space you humans might have gone to. It was very fun, but when I fell, it was not fun at all.
I couldn’t see much, but I did see flames of blood red and tiger orange all around me. The weird thing is, it didn’t hurt a bit. I was going really really fast and the wind was so hard against my face that I felt my skin go back. Like if my face was coming off and my skull was popping out, but it wasn’t. If you humans were in space without a suit, you would probably die. Luckily I didn’t though.
When I arrived on Earth, your home planet, I felt like I knew everything about it. My parents and I always used to watch over you. The truth is, I didn’t know everything. You humans can be so kind and gentle, but at other times stand up for what you think is right and are really tough. I thought that all you do is make your planet worse and worse each day, which is sort of true, but you also try to care for it as much as you can. I thought that all you people wanted was to be better than everyone else, pushing them lower and lower in life until they had no more. But I was wrong, a little bit. I realized that you people try to help others while also trying to care for yourselves and your families. I realized that you are way better than you seem, sometimes.
My mother and father are still with me in my heart. Every morning when I see my mom, I say hello to her. When she comes down, I say goodbye. Every time my father rises, I say hi to him. When he goes away, I tell him goodbye. I’m pretty sure they look down a lot to see me.
I love love loovvee jousting. To me, it is amazing, but to my new father, Elijah, it’s not. He doesn’t let me. It is so totally unfair. I mean, of course I joust with my friends when he’s not around, but when he is, I can’t even talk about it.
[[Continue->TWO]]We were at the local market. My father Elijah and I. This is a very peculiar market by the way. For some reason every time I walked in, I felt as if my palm was about to get read. Like there was always magic around. My new father didn’t know that I watched this planet for a long time, so he was surprised that I found my way around so easily.
[[THREE]]
[[ Stay with my father. ]]I went to the very back of the market that was made of beautiful, detailed cloths with many different patterns and designs. Right in the very smack center of one of the many rooms was a table. And on the very smack center of that table was a mirror. And on the smack center on the with a figure on top of it. The figure was made out of what seemed to be clay.
Remember how I said that this market was very peculiar? Well this explains how. I first picked up the sculpture and next the shiny gold mirror. It took me a while, but I finally realized that that very figure looked exactly like me.
“Wow,” I said, surprised “This, this is incredible.” Although it seemed like I was only surprised, I was mostly shocked. Shocked that the creator knew who I looked like, was able to make such a wonderful masterpiece, and that it was very accurate with very small details that I didn’t even know were a part of me.
I started touching the head and found a crack that went all around the whole body and twisted the head off. Then, I found a small note that was rolled up and tied with a red string as if it was sent in a bottle into the sea.
Right when I was just about to open up the miniature letter, I heard footsteps getting louder and louder, closer and closer until a short, wrinkled woman appeared by me. I quickly shoved the tiny piece of paper into my jumpsuit pocket right before she spotted me and exclaimed, “ What in the woorrlld are you doing?!”
“I- I was just admiring how wonderful this piece of art is,” I lied.
“Well… you shouldn’t be,” she told me,” This is NOT for public viewing missy. Now let’s go.” We walked a distance that felt like forever. Honestly, I sort of felt bad for her, dealing with people like me. Somehow, I always manage to get in trouble, ALWAYS.
Long story short, I got in super big trouble with my dad, got grounded for a couple of days, and had to write an apology letter stating that I will never go into the back of the market and cause trouble ever again.
[[Continue->FOUR]]I stayed with my dad the whole time he looked at clothes and some nice art pieces for our house. After a couple of days, we went back to the market with my dog, Hercules.
My father had given me that dog the day after we had gone to the market. We passed by the pet supply shop on our way home and I begged him to get me a dog. He asked me, “If I get you a dog, will you be quiet? And will you take care of it? And will you take it for walks when I tell you to? Oh, and will you pick up all of the mess your dog leaves behind? If you can do all of that, I will get you a dog.” I responded with a simple yes and he actually got it for me. Hercules is a Blue-nosed Pitbull. He was freshly washed and smelled like the shampoo my grandma uses. He is black and white, his ears are really soft, and he loves jumping on my bed at night. He is the perfect dog. I also have a frog named Pickles, but he can’t play with me and I can’t play with him either.
Anyways, we arrived at the market when I told my father that I would be right back and I was gonna go look at the pet supplies for Hercules. But instead of doing that, I decided to go to the back of the market. At school, I heard a group of boys talking about the back room. They said, “I went to the back of the market yesterday and it was so weird. Like I swear there's magic at that place.”
Another one told the others, “ Yeah, I did too and there was like this mirror with a small statue of a girl on it.” They kept talking but I had walked away and couldn’t hear them anymore.
I was on my way to the back and made sure there was nobody watching me. When the coast was clear, I walked faster. Once I entered the doorway, I saw exactly what one of the boys were talking about.
[[Continue->THREE]]“Go.” So simple but so hard to figure out. It’s what the note said. It said “ Go.”
I was grounded, but of course I called Ruby and Gio, my best friends in the world, as soon as I got home.
[[Meet up at my house.]]
[[Meet up at Ruby's house.]]
[[Meet up at Gio's house.]]We decided to meet up at my house. I told them to come to my house the next day while my dad was at work.
[[FIVE]] We decided to meet up at Ruby’s house. Ruby told us to go to her house the next day while my dad was at work so he wouldn’t suspect anything.
[[FIVE]] We decided to meet up at Gio’s house. He told us to go to his house the next day while our parents were at work so they wouldn’t suspect anything.
[[FIVE]]I was in the 5th grade when I met Ruby. She was in 4th. We had the same teacher because we were in a combo class that year. On the 2nd week of school, we were supposed to pick a partner to help us write a short paragraph. Ruby and I ended up together, and we’ve been bffs ever since. If it weren’t for that, I wouldn’t have a best friend at all like her. She was a little shorter than me, had natural straight hair, cute eyes, and a really funny personality. She comes to my house at least twice a month and we go in my pool a lot or act super crazy, weird, and dumb.
It was the first day of kindergarten when I met my guy best friend, Giovanni. That morning, I cried because I didn’t want my mom to leave me. But when I got into class and the teacher told us where to sit, I was perfectly fine. I sat at a round table with all boys. Next to me were Gio, that’s what we call him, and Isaac, my other friend. Also sitting at our table was a boy named Marvin. Marvin loved squirrels. They were his favorite. Gio likes sports instead of nature. His favorite sport is soccer. Him and his older brother have soccer games on some Saturdays. Gio and I went to an after school program in elementary school called Prime-Time. I don’t know about him, but I loved going there every day when school was over.
At first we didn’t know what the note meant, but after a long, secret say with Ruby and Gio, I knew exactly what it was saying. As I said before, I love jousting. I’ve begged and begged my dad to let me go to a jousting tournament, but he wouldn’t let me.
I tried asking him a day later, and you wouldn’t believe what he replied. He told me,” Only if you bring me the magical egg and the eagle’s head from the top of Mount Eagleus can you go to the tournament.” He said it as if he was the royal king of a kingdom, which he wasn’t. “But, you can only go alone.” That meant that I couldn’t go with Ruby. That was a TOTAL bummer.
“B-b-b-b-but I can't fight that enormous eagle alone. Nooone has ever survived it. EVER!” I usually made things wayyy more dramatic than they actually were.
“Well then you can’t go to the tournament, can you?” he snapped back.
“Ugh fiiinne. I’ll do it. But only if you promise that you’ll let me joust whenever I want.” I knew how to get my way with him. It was one of the things I liked about living on this planet.
“Deal,” he told me with his eyes squinted. We squint a lot at each other.
Later that day, I packed up everything I thought I would need. First, I got my favorite backpack ever. It was olive green with a sunflower I painted a couple weeks before. Then, I put in all my essentials. A gallon of water, food to last me a week and a half ( there was mostly meat, my fav), some money I saved up from doing my chores, a pillow, fluffy blanket, and the brown stuffed bear that my parents got me on my 9th birthday once.
When I finally finished, I kissed my dad on the cheek and he gave me a sword that looked as if it was made out of emeralds. After handing it to me, I said farewell.
[[SIX]]I walked and walked as far as my legs could carry me, stopped at the nearest tree I could find, took out my pillow and blanket ,and fell asleep right away.
The morning afterward, I set out for the egg again. Before I got too far, I decided to go to the wizards palace for some help. The wizard usually had magic shoes, magic bags, and really just anything else that was magical, but I was hoping for a strategy on how to get up the giant mountain and face the eagle.
Immediately when I arrived, the wizard greeted me with some tea. Somehow, it was like he knew I was going to him. I told him everything as we walked inside and sat on the black leather sofas.
His palace was a dark shade of grey, included many tall towers, and was as big as a mansion. In those towers, there were dozens of rooms, some small and some large, down every hallway you could’ve come across. Each room led to either another hallway, bathroom, or room. It was fantastic.
Long story short, he didn’t end up giving me advice. Instead, he gave me some flying shoes and a pegasus. The shoes were a little too big when I first put them on, but magically changed size to my foot which made them fit perfectly afterwards. The pegasus, however, was perfect. It was a girl. She had silky, silver hair and the most softest and whitest hair ever.
Before giving me the shoes and magical creature, the wizard said,”Only use the shoes when you really need them.” I nodded while he handed over the shoes and helped me get on the pegasus. Then, I headed out the door to go to the mountain.
[[SEVEN]]With the help of Peggy, that's what I named the pegasus, I was able to get to the mountain really quickly. I thought it would take days and days of traveling, but it actually didn’t. We got there in two days, and when we arrived, something strange happened.
We were at the very bottom of Mount Eagleus when I realized that I couldn’t do it. “NOPE! Can’t! I can’t do it! No sirree. Come on Peggy, let’s just go back to the palace so that I can take you back to the wizard and go home.”
While Peggy and I walked back, I spotted some kids jousting at what seemed to be a local park. They must have been taught by someone really good, better than me in fact, because they looked like mini professionals. It looked like they were about 11 or 12 years old wearing small metal helmet, elbow and knee pads, and some ragged, black sneakers. I stared at them, at Peggy, and back at the kids.
I knew I would need some help going up Mount Eagleus, but that’s what the shoes and Peggy were for, right?
running as fast as I could, I took deep breaths. I was almost halfway there when I stopped and called out to Peggy, “Are you coming or not?!” Immediately after, she ran up to me and we jogged up to the bottom of the mountain.
I dropped my backpack and the sweater that was around my waist onto the ground, took my sword out, and climbed onto Peggy’s back so she could fly me to the top.
Once up there, the gigantic eagle greeted us with a menacing screech that could have broken glass. I squeezed Peggy’s ears so they wouldn’t hurt as badly as mine. I figured that the wizard could just cast a spell on me.
When the terrible welcome was over with, I let go of Peggy’s ears. Then, I took off my shoes, threw them to my backpack, which looked as small as an ant, and quickly slipped on the magic ones. I knew this fight would require me standing.
I yelled,“Peggy, go down there! I’ll call you if anything!” She listened and flew to where my items were peacefully sitting.
After seeing her safely fly to the bottom, I grabbed my sword tightly, rushed as fast as I could to the bird, and slashed it’s head off. Then, I took the egg, which was very, very heavy, and brought it down like a superhero.
[[EIGHT]]HA! I’m kidding! It wasn't thaaat easy.
It took a long time, and I’m talking a long long time. It felt like half an hour getting the head, which I felt very bad for doing. I chopped and chopped and chopped until that eagle’s head came off. Every time I cut through the skin of the big bird, I heard a clang. I looked closely and somehow, the head turned to stone instead of bleeding.
Then, I quickly reached for the golden egg, flew down to put it in the backpack, went back to grab the head, and put it in the backpack as well.
While walking back to the wizards palace to return Peggy and the shoes, I realized that I don’t need the help of anyone. I mean, I did have the shoes and Peggy, but I could’ve reached Mount Eagleus without them.
・・・・・
[[NINE]]Once I arrived at home, I gave my father Elijah the eagle’s head, the golden egg, and his sword. He accepted them, and gave me something very unexpected. He gave me, drumroll pleeeaaasssee, dun dun duuuun, three tickets to the jousting tournament in Mountropolis. The tickets were for VIPs and were seated in the front row.

“Thank you, thank you, thank you! Oh my GOD!! I’m sooo totally inviting Ruby and Gio! Thank youuuu! Ugh, I’m soo excited!” I yelled, but not too loudly.
“It’s no problem, my little princess,” he replied to me. I squeezed him tightly and went to the kitchen to call Ruby and Gio.
“Wow.” I was at the jousting competition with Gio and Ruby.
It was held in a very large and oval-shaped arena. It looked like there were millions of people, but there probably wasn’t. All kinds of fans were there: the ones who screamed and clapped, the ones who wore their favorite team’s color on their faces, the ones who just sat there watching, and the ones who are always good sports no matter if their team wins or not.
“What?” Gio asked quietly.
“It’s just..I don't know. I didn't think I could do it. I thought I would die facing that eagle or being by myself.” At that moment I realized that I could do whatever I put my mind to. I didn't need the help of my dad or my friends. All I needed was myself. I didn’t need anybody or anything else.“Thank you, thank you, thank you! Oh my GOD!” I yelled, but not too loudly.
